As Chief Marketing Officer at Velodyne Lidar, Sally Frykman oversees the strategic development and execution of global marketing and communications programs that advance the company’s innovative vision and goals. Since joining Velodyne in 2017 as its Communications and Education Manager, Sally quickly ascended through the organization to her current position, previously serving as Director of Communications, VP of Communications, and Chief Communications Officer. Her multifaceted role encompasses a wide array of responsibilities, including promotion of the Velodyne brand, thought leadership development, and robust sales lead generation fueled by highly engaging digital marketing. Additionally, Sally leads Velodyne’s comprehensive public and media relations efforts.Throughout her career, Sally has demonstrated her capacity for effective team building and delivering impactful programs across a broad spectrum of focus areas. In 2020, she led the development and execution of Velodyne Lidar’s communications strategy during its transition from a private to a public company. She built the company’s public policy and government affairs division, driving successful local and federal regulatory activities. She also creates and delivers innovative educational campaigns to diverse audiences, including customers, analysts, investors, partners, and the general public.Sally is deeply committed to advancing Velodyne’s mission of transforming lives through safe mobility and smart communities. Her dedication to advocacy and education has spanned the entirety of her career, with previous positions in public school administration, classroom teaching, and social work. She earned a bachelor’s degree from University of California, Santa Barbara, and a master’s degree from San Francisco State. A California native and nature lover, Sally enjoys hikes around the Bay Area with her husband, their children, and dog.
